Our Style
Unobtrusive! Whenever possible we prefer to film in a discreet, fly-on-the-wall manner. Rather than staged and posed shots we've found that the best footage usually comes from when people are unaware of the cameras so are relaxed and being themselves. It helps us portray a natural, honest take on the day and 'keeps it real' which we love.

After that, we spend literally hours and hours in post production to craft your video. Bringing every detail together to show your day as it felt to be there. Think beautiful, candid, spontaneous and unexpected.
Our Philosophy
To create a wedding video that you, your family (your family to be) and your friends will love and want to watch from start to finish. To capture and portray your wedding in a way that makes you laugh a lot, cry a little, show you what you might have missed, show the details, the food, the wine (sometimes lots of wine), the party, the dancing, the joy and the love. All in a creative and contemporary way that will look just as fresh and exciting when you sit down to watch it with your grandchildren. Easy.
Packages
We offer a range of filming packages that suit all styles of weddings, budgets and coverage requirements. Packages start at $1275. There is no charge for travel to Queenstown, Wanaka and Southland and we happily travel further afield. Contact us for a comprehensive package and price list and to talk about the best video solution for your wedding.
Filming
We film using top-range, broadcast quality High Definition (HD) video cameras, sliders, supports, DSLR cameras and a variety of lenses to make sure we have the right equipment to use for the right environment. We edit using Final Cut Pro editing suite and make use of an exhaustive range of other software and techniques to ensure your video is contemporary, personalised and gorgeous! (It helps having a graphic designer as part of the crew)

Our Story
Sunshine Video + Design represents the skills, ideas and creative vision of Scott and Melissa Thoroughgood. We've been married a couple of years, film and edit together, have our own opinions, perspectives and ideas. All of which (hopefully) combine to create modern and exciting wedding videos that show joy, spontaneity, humour and most importantly, two people who love each other. Much like a marriage.
Scott
Scott emigrated from Australia to 'bring some culture' to NZ. He travelled the world and started filming in the early 90s as a skydive camera operator. Since then he's spent years filming and editing - films, weddings and everything in between, but with both feet on the ground. Still happy in the air, he's a superstar with a camera in helicopters and balancing on the side of a mountain getting amazing footage for mountain photoshoots and heli weddings.
Melissa
After studying photography (and illustration) with a Design degree Melissa worked for many years in publishing as Creative Director. Since meeting Scott and moving South it's been back to hands on and a whirlwind of weddings and cameras. Along with Photoshop, motion graphics, web and graphic design (when there's time) and of course keeping Scott organised!
